Don’t Tell Mom, The Babysitter’s Hot

It was at that moment, when Ryker looked up at her and called her ‘babysitter’ again, that she realized he had forgotten her name. Bebe noticed his face had gotten a teensy bit red, and a light blush slowly creeped onto her own cheeks.

She looked down at Cady jumping up and down, and laughed. she let out a big sigh, throwing her hands up in the air for effect. “Well I guess so. Yeah it’s fine, come on in.” She laughed, turning and stepping back into the house, giggling as she watched Cady squeal and turn to run with her bag, and then the little girl seemed to check herself, remembering that her dad had said quietly, and went the rest of the way back to the table on tip-toe, giggling.

Bebe looked back at Ryker and smiled, then looked down at her feet when he walked in. She closed the door behind them and put her hands behind her back, unsure of what she should do now. She guessed he knew where Mia’s room was, and Stevie was taking a nap, and now that Cady was doing her homework…

She decided to just go into the living room and sit down on the couch, picking up her book she had left there before cleaning, and skimmed through, looking for something to take her mind off of the way Ryker looked when he had smirked.

Ryker laughed and walked in, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He glanced around Grace’s place, mostly to see if everything was in order. Grace was a good mom, she drove him crazy with everything else but she knew how to take care of their kids.

He watched Cady tip toe to the table, shaking his head. He turned around to look at the babysitter again. He watched her read for a few moments wondering how to nonchalantly ask for her name. He could go ask Cady but they’d just gotten her seated to do her homework.

But he heard Mia from the kitchen and the urge to see his baby girl was stronger. He quickly walked in seeing her sitting down, surrounded by toys. She looked up when he walked in and her face lit up. She reached out her arms immediately making her little hands grab for him.

“Hey tiger,” Ryker cooed leaning down to pick her up. He held her in the air higher for a moment before pulling her down and kissing her face.

“Cady,” he whispered causing his daughter to look up from the kitchen table.

“What?” she whispered back.

“What’s her name?” Ryker whispered as Mia started fiddling with the collar of his jacket.

Cady giggled. “Daddy you’re silly, that’s Bebe.” Ryker mentally punched himself, of course Bebe who takes care of the babies now he remembered.

“You ready to go to bed tiger?” he asked Mia who in response just rested her head on his shoulder. He smiled to himself, he loved this part of being a Dad.

“Say night to sissy,” he instructed. She lifted her head up and turned to look at Cady.

“Ni sissy,” she said tiredly. Ryker chuckled and headed back into the living room.

“Thanks for letting me do this, I know divorce parents are kind of weird about this kind of sh-stuff,” he said with a nod, correcting himself when he almost cussed.

Bebe watched Cady and Ryker with a big smile on her face, thinking that they looked so sweet together. It made her glad that even though Grace and Ryker were splitting the parenting that the kids were still happy.

She stayed in her spot against the door frame, feeling like she was watching something out of a movie. She wasn’t used to seeing family members act like… well, act like such family. Bebe smiled and put her hand on Cady’s head when Ryker pushed her back inside, lightly stroking the girl’s hair.

When Cady asked him if he could stay a while, Bebe’s eyes went a little wide, and wouldn’t admit that she liked the idea, and just watched the two of them as he talked to his daughter, the corner of her mouth going up in a half smile when Ryker looked up at her.

She laughed and pat Cady’s head, bending to pick up the bookbag that got put down when the girl showed up. Bebe placed it down in front of Cady and grinned, poking her chest.

“You’ll see your daddy soon enough, and I’m only guessing here but you know what would make your mommy and daddy both happy? If you started that homework.” She wrinkled her nose, poking Cady’s own. “I’ll make you another paper dragon too.”

“Tell you what,” Ryker said bending down to Cady’s level again, “I’ll sweeten the pot a little. You go in and quietly start on your homework and I’ll find your baby sister and put her to bed, if that’s okay with your babysitter.”

He looked up at her, his cheeks growing red with having no idea what her name could be. He wanted to say it started with a ‘K’ but he honestly had no clue.

Cady’s eyes grew wide and looked up to her as well. “Can he? PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE,” Cady begged, hopping up and down a little. Ryker laughed and got to his feet so he could talk to her head on.

“No pressure or anything but she’s a stubborn Keoaloha,” he said with a smirk, crossing his arms a little.

She held back a small giggle as she watched Ryker look around, guessing that Grace hadn’t told him that she’d be babysitting the kids. When he turned back and smiled Bebe felt her heart beat a little faster, but she smiled back, not wanting to make a fool of herself in front of the dad of the kids she was taking care of.

“Nope, right house.” She laughed quietly, leaning against the doorframe a bit, noticing that he was holding a rather small backpack, and remembered that Cady didn’t have her books.

“Oh thank goodness, we were looking for that.” Bebe said with relief, lowering her shoulders. She turned her head and called into the house. “Cady! Your dad found your bag!” Bebe grinned, then turned back to Ryker when he asked where Grace was.

Her eyebrows drew together a bit as she tilted her head. “She’s over at the hospital doing med-student things, hence me babysitting.” She was about to thank him for bringing Cady’s bag when she heard loud running footsteps coming closer, laughing when the girl came into view.

Ryker was about to hand over the bookbag not wanting to make a big deal about his appearance when she called out to Cady. He let out a silent sigh, not that he didn’t want to see his kids, more like he didn’t want to leave…her with a screaming Mia when he left.

He nodded about the explanation about Grace. He heard footsteps coming and instantly got down to Cady’s level as she ran and jumped into his arms. He lifted her off the ground hugging her tightly.

He kissed her head then moved to look at her. “You little stinkpot, you did that on purpose didn’t you?” he asked with a grin. She shook her head then started giggling.

“I can’t do my homework if I don’t have my bag?” Cady said with an innocent shrug before Ryker started tickling her. He did that for a few seconds before putting her down and pushing her back inside.

She stopped, leaning against the babysitter watching Ryker. “Can you stay for a little while Daddy?” Cady asked, pouting her lips at him.

“Nah I don’t wanna impose on your babysitter’s time,” he said looking back up at the babysitter who had strangely huge, gorgeous brown eyes he’d never noticed before. He got lost in them for a second before shaking his head.

“You don’t wanna hang out with your old man anyway,” Ryker said with a chuckle, “I’m old remember?”

“Yes but I still love you,” Cady said with a nod, hugging the babysitter’s leg.

Bebe finished loading up her dishes into the dishwasher then leaned against the kitchen counter, taking a deep breath. So far she thought she had been doing well with her new job, there weren’t any complaints and she was in good company

She had been having a blast with her new babysitting job, Cady and Stevie were the best kids she’d looked after so far, and baby Mia she already knew from working at the daycare. Bebe hadn’t officially babysat before this, but with all the younger kids in the foster homes she had lived with and taken care of a couple years ago, she knew how to get a kid to stop crying, knew how to cheer them up, keep them smiling, and she had loads of games in her arsenal to keep them from getting bored.

Bebe pushed herself off the counter and walked over to Cady, who was sitting at the table drawing, and ruffled her hair with a grin. “That’s looking great Cady!” She said with encouragement, then started picking up the toys scattered throughout the house.

Hearing someone knock on the door she frowned, wondering if Grace was going to have any visitors. She walked up and opened the door, her eyes widening when she saw that it was Ryker.

“Oh, Mr. Keoaloha, hi.” She smiled a bit nervously, having developed a small crush on the man after seeing him at the daycare when he dropped off Mia.

Ryker frowned as he saw not Grace or one of his kids, but the woman who ran the daycare open the door. He turned his head back wondering if he’d gotten the wrong house. He’d been here a hundred times so he knew that wasn’t it.

He turned back to look at her, shaking his head and smiling. “Sorry, thought I got the wrong house for a second,” he said picking up Cady’s backpack. He held it his hands looking over to see if his kids were lurking about.

“Where’s Grace?” he asked curiously, turning his attention back to…crap he should know her name, he’d talked to half a dozen times since Mia started daycare, but he was shit with names.

Ryker noticed Cady’s bookbag about twenty minutes ago. He was debating whether he should take it over. He knew Mia was probably still awake and he didn’t want to start her crying over him not putting her to sleep, but Cady had homework.

He drove the short distance over to Grace’s place and parked in the driveway. He frowned at the appearance of not Grace’s car in the driveway. He didn’t think anything of it and got out carrying Cady’s backpack.

This whole arrangement probably looked weird and confused the entire town, but it worked for them. Grace and him worked better as friends who were raising two children together. They’d loved each other and they tried to make it work, but you couldn’t make oil and vinegar mix either.

He walked to the door and pounded a few times, taking a step back. He set down the backpack and unzipped his jacket, feeling a little warm and knowing Grace kept her house too damn warm anyway. He ran a hand through his short, blonde hair hearing the various noises of a house realizing they had a visitor.
